The Legend
The legend of the mermaid has endured throughout the ages. Depicted in the ancient art of Mesopotamia and appearing in Assyrian fables in 1000 BC, the mythical mermaid continues to captivate our imagination.
The mermaid reminds us of our own deep evolutionary history with the sea. Half-human, half-fish, these enchanting creatures inhabit a liminal world between land and sea. Fishermen understand the allure of these “in-between spaces,” for they visit them often in pursuit of their elusive catch.
Mermaids are guardians of the ocean and protectors of the creatures that live there. They seduce us with their songs of promise and the treasures they guard beneath the waves. But like the ocean itself, which can punish or reward, the mermaid can be friend or adversary.
The Unknown...
Mermaids evoke freedom, compelling us to explore places beyond our reach. They conjure a sense of adventure, entreating us to push boundaries and dream of worlds beyond what we know.
The Lore
The mermaid’s tale unites us with the stories of old and the tellers who breathed life into them. Mermaids remind us of the awesome power of nature to create and sustain life. They inspire us to imagine, question, and experience the vast, mysterious world that is around us, and within us.
