The waters of F/V Cape Cleare span 700 miles in length and 50 miles across. These are lively waters with active weather systems, persistent fog, and long ocean swells that roll in uninterrupted from Japan.

We fish the Fairweather Grounds for a week or more at a time, drifting at night, sometimes running for distant shelter in storms. On a clear day we can see the Fairweather Range, the tallest coastal mountains on earth, piercing the clouds at over 15,000 feet.

It is in this beautiful, spirited environment that the wild salmon run.
